Article: DONINGTON GP NON SILENCED

DONINGTON GP NON SILENCED

DONINGTON GP NON SILENCED

Last week we headed back to Donington Park GP circuit for the second time this year but this time for a fully unsilenced day courtesy of RMA.

Unsilenced days are great because they allow us freedom to run whichever combination of exhaust parts we wish on the car without the worry of black flags.

The previous exhaust set up consisted of the following components:

INCONEL RACE MANIFOLDS
INCONEL LINK PIPES (RACE CATTED)
INCONEL TIP ADAPTORS

TITANIUM WEISSACH TIPS

We decided to make the most of the lack of sound restrictions and swap out the factory rear silenced from our car and installed our Titanium Valved Race Pipe (Silenced) along with a set of our Titanium Megaphone Tips.

The new exhaust set up is now as follows:

INCONEL RACE MANIFOLDS
INCONEL LINK PIPES (RACE CATTED)
TITANIUM VALVED RACE PIPE (SILENCED)
TITANIUM MEGAPHONE TIPS

The difference in sound is pretty remarkable. The deeper grumble replaced with a much more race car like high pitched shriek at full throttle approaching 8000rpm.

Not only is the sound much more aggressive but the weight has also been dropped by a further 10kg and the performance again improved due to improved flow of the JCR rear silencer replacement.

This day wasn't all about making a great sound however, we also took time to further dial in the cars suspension settings and tested some new geometry settings. All of which were very positive changes which we will carry on to Spa and Nurburgring at the end of this month.

With Donington Park GP being such a flowing high speed circuit it also highlighted just how much of a difference our latest aero improvements have made to the balance and overall performance of the car.

Last time we lapped here in the original JCR 718 GT4 we managed a lap time of 1:41.82 and on this latest day the JCR 718 GT4 v2.0 posted a time of 1:39.72 which is a huge improvement of -2.10 seconds with no more power as the original GT4 time was set with the exact same exhaust modifications installed.

Admittedly, comparing day to day with such a long period of time in between is never a great idea when testing parts back to back however we can safely say with such a huge improvement we're certainly on the right track, with plenty more to come!

As always it is so amazing to see and hear so many JCR systems and products out in the wild and this event was no different, a huge percentage of the Porsche's present on the day had our parts installed. Something that makes us smile every time!

April was a very busy and productive month for product testing and development which makes us even more excited moving into May where we travel to Spa Francorchamps and the mighty Nurburgring Nordschleife with our friends at Manthey Racing.

We can't wait to share how we get along!
